..or what if The Big Old Question youre touching upon in your text (and that we (un)fortunately have been given the ability to ask) really isnt a question since it, in our lifetime doesnt seem to produce an answer? (It will of course - if youre using metaphysics) Perhaps the answer is to forget the question, and by that entering into a new form of self acceptance/awarness that might open some new doors?

Even the dumbest human will try to run or fight if cornered, they have not lost the survival instinct. But just like a group of sheep who, when under no immediate threat, dont conspire and go get the guard dogs and the farmer in their sleep humans do not plan a counter strike when under no immediate threat. Obviously the few do, by organizing underground rebellion groups and using the internet to recruit people to join...
I disagree with you that its the way to do it... being aware of the problem is good.. being angry about it is good, but in my opinion the history has shown us with a few exceptions that the small groups of idealist dont really win over the big bad wolf because they do not really know how to effectively organize and get enough supporters. Because they are angry and because they are motivated by desperation into quick action with huge ideals of taking down the big bad wolf who they believe they recognize...

Again in my opinion the big bad wolf is in each of us, un-mastered by us... because we are too lazy to learn about ourselves. Its reach and affect is greater, the longer it has developed through years of succession to power and its therefore natural for those who have that power to use it to further their personal benefit... think about it... we do it to in the smallest of scales... it IS the same thing happening.

So i dont think being angry and pointing fingers or being militant would change anything substantially. We must educate, change and adopt our human nature to a better understanding of ourselves.... then the coming generations will be gradually more and more aware and they will be more successful than us at achieving a peaceful life on earth.

Dont choose the easy path of being angry... fight like a Buddhist monk rather than an angry guerilla. First we must learn to use our brain, then the correct weapons will present themselves.. right now we are dumb, if that dont change, nothing will...

Peace, Love and understanding ; )

Great illustration and good thinking.
We have been fed the opiate of peace. We have been lulled to sleep, thinking there is no enemies anymore - someone else will look after the store while we go about doing all the silly superficial things we do. In nature, animals don't just give up - they fight. Humans on the other hand have lost that survival instinct. We will be ok, at least until the next Hitler comes around and starts directing the sheep to the slaughterhouse...

The most common symptoms of ADHD are:

Impulsiveness: acting before thinking of consequences (USED TO HAVE IT), jumping from one activity to another (STILL GOT IT), disorganization (YEP!), tendency to interrupt other peoples' conversations (MUCH LESS NOW).
Hyperactivity: restlessness (SELDOM), often characterized by an inability to sit still (SELDOM), fidgeting, squirminess, climbing on things (THEY ALWAYS SAID I USED TO CLIMB UP WALLS, YEAH STRAIGHT UP!), restless sleep (I SLEEP LIKE A BABY).
Inattention: easily distracted (HELL YEAH), day-dreaming (DAMN IT! THATS ME), not finishing work (SORRY, BUT YES, OFTEN), difficulty listening (MORE SO LATELY, ASK ARTHUR) and motor clumsiness (DEFINITELY).

S H I T !!!

at least it also says "Obstacles that clinicians face when assessing adults who may have ADHD include developmentally inappropriate diagnostic criteria, age-related changes, comorbidities and the possibility that high intelligence or situational factors can mask ADHD symptoms." wiki. Think maybe some of this i may have fixed along the years... couldnt be that impulsive, hyper or clumsy around 200000 kr. photo equipment and gorgeous models. But maybe parts of it is released again working in the café with cheap glasses and fun loving guests.

"Hyperactivity is common among children with ADHD but tends to disappear during adulthood. However, over half of children with ADHD continue to have some symptoms of inattention throughout their lives.[citation needed]"
Rings a bell : ) Hmm...

"A 2009 study found that children with ADHD move around a lot because it helps them stay alert enough to complete challenging tasks. The researcher advises that when they are doing homework, let them fidget, stand or chew gum since it may help them cope. Unless their behavior is destructive, severely limiting their activity could be counterproductive."

Wish we had wiki when i was growing up... I remember i liked reading but well... kind of sitting upside down with my legs up on the wall and somehow throwing a ball or a pillow up and down. : )

"Primary disorder of vigilance, which is characterized by poor attention and concentration, as well as difficulties staying awake. These children tend to fidget, yawn and stretch and appear to be hyperactive in order to remain alert and active. " Wiki.
So parents... let us bounce while we read.. please! it actually keeps us focused, but hell i didnt know how should they have? : )

Causes:
"A specific cause of ADHD is not known. There are, however, a number of factors that may contribute to ADHD including genetics, diet and social and physical environments."
Wiki.

Im going to leave it at that...
link to Wiki article is;

Ive sometimes said that helping organizations was futile, because so much of the resources never reach their destinations and get sucked into the black hole pockets of the bureaucratic behemoth.

it seems that i was wrong... we did somehow help change things even if a tenth of our energy (money) reached their destination and goals.

My plan still is to go deeper and solve the problems we face, (personal, economical, cultural, existential) at the core level.

But I NOW must readjust my thinking.

It seems to me now that if we do support the hard working organizations to keep us alive for as long as its going to take us to adjust our askew perception of our lives then we can maybe actually make it.

I mean if we can make these critical advancements in self realization then we wont need to lok after the planet, because we already would have achieved (or perhaps reverted to) a unity, a symbiosis between ourselves and our Mother Earth.

A friend thought me once that we ought to give thanks and show gratitude often...
I think what happens when we do this is that for only a few moments we stop and concentrate on what we do have, and how lucky we indeed are, and not what we lack or want and need to be happy as we somehow seem to be programmed to feel.

We ought to really consider this and perhaps make it a tiny little meditation each and every day.

I´d like to think that my general lightness of humor and calm comes from this, being satisfied with what i have and knowing that i am lucky.
